Forstner Bits A forstner bit cuts a mortise for the tenon.  The mortise must be the same size as the diameter of the tenon.  for example, a 2 1/2" diameter tenon will need a 2 1/2" mortise.  See our Forstner Bits A Drill We recommend the Milwaukee Hole Hawg 1/2"drill for logs up to 4" and the Milwaukee 3/4" drill for anything larger.  The 3/4" drill can be used on ANY size of log.  See our super value Drills!
